The four-piece original rock band is fronted by vocalist Jasmine May, and draws its influences from bands such Muse, Queens of the Stone Age and old school rockers like Kiss.

The music combines melodic vocals with screaming guitar solos and driving beats.

The band is recording their first EP at Lockup Studios in Sutherland.

May met musicians Nathan Lindsell and Andrew Gillett at the old Billy Hyde Music store in Taren Point, and recruited bass player Mitchell Slade to form New Alias.

“We started writing and jamming together at Studio 57 in Taren Point and then hit the stage for our first gig with Shinobi,” said Lindsell, the band’s drummer.

The band have uploaded their song Fend for Myself to Triple J Unearthed website where it is available for download.

Lindsell describes the band’s style as old school rock mixed with today’s styles.

Catch New Alias at Studio 6 on Friday, June 27 from 8pm, with Dirty Charlie, Cubans in Whistler, Tall Hearts and Strangerous Collective.
